Tenuta Ammiraglia

LuogoTenuta Ammiraglia - Magliano in Toscana

Owned by the Frescobaldi family, Tenuta dell'Ammiraglia lies in the heart of Maremma, a land of great wine-making potential.

The Marchesi Frescobaldi family has been devoted to Tuscan winemaking for more than 700 years. Their wines were enjoyed by Donatello and leading Renaissance artists as far back as the sixteenth century, served on the tables of the papal court of Leo X and King of England, Henry VIII.

The estates are located in some of the most popular and best wine growing areas of Tuscany; they are independent businesses with dedicated oenologists and agronomists.

The new Tenuta Ammiraglia was opened in 2011, with a focus on unspoilt land and immense potential: the Maremma.

The winery

The estate, owned by the Frescobaldi family, is located in Magliano, in the heart of the Maremma and is surrounded by vineyards that outline picturesque shapes on the surrounding hills. It is a perfect place to make wine, brimming with charming and pristine natural beauty. In the summer months, the long hours of sunshine and the sea breeze create ideal conditions for winemaking. All of these factors lend Ammiraglia’s wines with exceptional variety and a wealth of perfumes that are unique to the Maremma.

The winery designed by architect Piero Sartogo is a sublime example of design at the service of production quality and silent harmony and respect for the surrounding environment. Gravity is harnessed to pour off the wine and renewable energy is used. The roof is covered with vegetation to ensure integration with the local area and to create the ideal microclimate in the barrel cellar below.
